The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

He liked the way her eyes lit up in challenge when he taunted her about not being able to handle the other mares in the herd. She arched a brow and said she was thinking more about the other mares themselves and their safety. She said she'd hate to leave them mortally wounded and he snorted, his own brow arching in turn as he swished his tail. "I didn't recruit weaklings, so I think you'll find them more than capable of giving as good as they get." He smirked. Okay, maybe he'd worry about Primrose with her skittish nature, but other than that, he was pretty sure Geneva and Vaheen could more than handle Harlequin's combative nature. He could see that Harlequin wasn't submissive, but then neither were 2/3's of his other mares. Maybe he had a type he seemed attracted to already or maybe that was just the majority of mares on the islands, period. Maybe that was just the way his luck played out. Either way, he wasn't sorry for the choices he'd made or the mares he'd collected so far. He just needed to figure out how to collect more so he'd have a thriving herd to defend.

When she nipped at his skin, he couldn't help the instinctive reaction he had to lean into her teeth, his skin shuddering with pain but his body didn't react in a negative way to it. No, he loved pain. It was a learned behavior, maybe an adaptation for his body to survive what he'd been through. Maybe he would have broken otherwise. He knew it wasn't the norm and most horses seemed downright confounded by his reaction, but he didn't care. She said that she liked the sound of him showing off the scars as long as he used her name. He snorted, his eyes turning mock serious like he was offended. "And give away my best kept secret? Hell no. They'll have to bury me before they get to hear the sweet symphony of your name." He couldn't help the way his eyes lit up even as he said it, his brow arching teasingly.

He liked the way she seemed to be reacting as this conversation took a dangerous turn. Breeding season was over but the hormones were still there. It was nice to know she felt it too. She told him they would see and he chuckled in response. "So we shall." He agreed with a playful wink. She brushed her body against his and his nostrils flared, drinking in her intoxicating scent. As she moved away from him, he knew the moment was lost but oh well. Maybe they'd have plenty more where that came from. She turned her head as she moved away, asking him to show her around and he grinned as he fell into step with her. "With pleasure." He moved fluidly through the desert dunes, pointing out all the different oases and what they could offer for food, shade, and water. He never wanted her to go hungry or thirsty while in his care.
