Are we written in the sand

Cherish was shocked to see the marks that made up Wasp's coat as she now realizes how true the young mare's words were. Wasp was a fighter, she was strong, and Cherish knew she would feel safe next to her old friend. She felt bad for forgetting Wasp, but she also knew her state of mind was different back then. Her pregnancy with Augustine was a big blur and hard to remember. Pain surrounds that moment in time because not only did she have to leave Augustine, but the boy never came to see her. She knew he probably never even looked for her after she escaped the Lagoon with Macabre. Her son didn't care. Then there was the added drama of Cherish mistaking Ernesto for Soljor. That was so pathetic since the two stallions looked nothing alike and Ernesto was younger than what Soljor would be today.

She couldn't dwell on those memories, not with how great Ernesto turned out to be. She was lucky that both Augustine and Clarity's fathers were in her life and more than willing to help raise their children. Tears still slip from her eyes as she watches Macabre and Wasp reunite. This moment was so tender and beautiful there was nothing else she could do, but cry. Finally, Macabre turns to her and says it was time they returned home. Cherish would argue the Peak was not her home since she has never been there before, but honestly, she has already decided wherever Macabre went was home. She nods her head to her friend, her leader.

Macabre then says a warning to Persephone. Cherish's face turns more serious, but only for a few seconds because she was sad to be leaving the Forest. Persephone has been a big help to her and a good friend. "Thank you for letting us stay here." She says to the bay roan with a smile. "I will be sad to leave, but Macabre is my home so I must follow her." Her lips quiver, but she manages to continue. "You will always find a friend in me, Persephone. You and your herd." She smiles in a bittersweet way before she turns and follows Macabre and Wasp to the Peak. Clarity shoots Persephone a smile, gives a quick look back to the woods, and then follows her mother.
