This confrontation was more emotionally difficult than Vita Nova had anticipated.
Her heart was stammering in her chest as she so visibly rejected Warsaw. She could see the shock all over his face, but still, she stood strong, even if she could feel a glean of salty moisture building in her eyelids. The Queen of the Inlet tried to remind herself why she was here, and why she stood up to Xiomara to begin with. Warsaw abandoned her. He jumped to Xiomara without so much of a blink of an eye. His actions spoke louder than words - to him, she was disposable.
Vita Nova watched as Ironclad pulled away from her and went to stand in front of the mare whom had threatened to take everything from them. The mare fought her and injured her, knowing well that Vita Nova was pregnant. Queen V couldn't help but feel delated as she watched her son defend this mare. Like his father, he was choosing a stranger over his own mother.
"Ironclad, you defend a stranger who was more than willing to hurt your own mother." She explained slowly, attempting to keep her voice even and calm. It was proving more difficult as the second ticked by. "And that hurts my feelings."
She breathed a heavy sigh, her blue eyes training onto Xiomara now. She flicked her thick, wavy grey tail over her haunches as she weighed what to do next. Xiomara was of course a defensive asset to the herd. But she was not worth the risk. Vita Nova could never trust her. Given her frivolous response to Vita Nova's valid question - the queen offering her fallen opponent one chance to change her mind - she'd sealed her own fate. "Don't ever come back here." She said, her voice unwavering.
"Today is a new day for the Inlet." She said sternly, and she surveyed what was left of Warsaw's herd with her jaws clenched.
