We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

If only the Icelandic stallion understood how easily it was to woo mares, especially ones as young and as gullible as Tavas. Yes, the palomino mare certainly had a mind of her own and craved her independence. She inherited a spirited, strong-willed attitude from her mother and her grandmother. But she was so easily duped by affection and just any semblance of attention. That's what piqued her interest in Requiem, after all. He was so enthralled with her. She reveled in the months they spent in the Bay together, alone. Bjorn, on the other hand, felt so despondent at first. He was rigid and not at all affectionate. Plus, he was busy. He had so many other mares to look after. And now he had this war...

While the touch she initiated was only short-lived, she could still feel her heart beating firmly in her chest minutes after it ended. But she was disheartened, also albeit briefly, by how unshaken and stiff Bjorn remained in the afternath. He never told her to stop. He didn't try to stifle her need to touch him. He merely stood stoically in her presence, not a break in his icy exterior showing her he appreciated her attempt to be kind and flirty, in her young and perhaps immature way. Tavas waited a moment to feel something after she reached out to him. But all she felt was anticipation, in this void where the stallion didn't reach back. So she retreated a few steps and breathed a heaving sigh. At least he cared enough to ask how she was doing, she thought unenthusiastically.

The conversation turns to Warsaw and Tavas is grateful for the distraction from her own feelings. Unlike her mother's back-and-forth, Tavas' relationship with the grey stallion was a fine one. He was nothing but endearing and attentive to the palomino filly during her youth. He doted on her like she was royalty, even if he wasn't he real sire. In all aspects of her life, Warsaw was the only father figure she had, and thus she only saw him as such. But the young mare did not agree with this war. It scared her. She worried for her family everywhere.... especially Vita Nova.

Tavas was surprised to see Bjorn's hesitation. He had spoken to his herd so confidently about what was to come. But here and now, privately to her, he seemed so unsure. Her somewhat offended expression began to melt away and concern crossed her features. "Don't get me wrong, Warsaw is a fierce ally." She offered with the flick of her tail. "I'd certainly rather be on his side of the war than the opposing." She adds, her gaze settling in on Bjorn's now. "But this whole fight... I don't know. It's his, not yours. And he's asking you to risk a lot for what he believes."

She breathes another great sigh, but smiles at Bjorn when he thanks her for her advice. "It sounds like you've got a hard choice to make."
