He knew telling her that Bahadir being there made him act like that sounded like an excuse. It sounded like it even to his own ears. He wasn't trying to excuse his behavior, and he knew no matter what, he probably still wouldn't have been as nice to her as she deserved because of who he was then, what he believed. Mares were property to him, back before he really got to know them and who they are. Now, he was trying his utmost to show them respect and adapt to their individual needs. He still believed they need protection, maybe even guidance sometimes, but so did he. He needed some guidance of his own sometimes and that's what his mares were quickly becoming to him. They were friends, advisers, confidantes. He didn't want to hold his mares as prisoners, at least, not anymore. Maybe at one time, he was so possessive that he wanted to keep them under heel, but he was learning that it didn't feel good to know someone didn't want to be with him.

It all snapped within him when Leonid came with him from the Commons after that fight with Rougaru, only to avoid him and then try to escape to Paradise, like he wasn't watching. He still didn't quite know where he went wrong with her, but he felt like a huge weight was lifted when he followed her to Paradise, told her everything that was on his mind, then turned and left her in the dust. Maybe in some part of him, he hoped she would remember his words, but he knew that more likely than not, she would forget them within a minute of him leaving. She was young and thought she was invincible, like she knew it all. He might not even make a crack in her armor with his heartfelt words, but it still felt good to get it all off his chest. He was gaining hope as the conversation with Primrose went on. She seemed more understanding, more forgiving.

When she showed signs of her pain, he started to panic a little. He'd never been through this before and didn't know what was considered normal, but he knew that he was not a fan of seeing the pale mare in pain. As she crumpled in on herself a little, he moved to stand by her, offering his shoulder for support, though he was surprised that she actually took the offer and leaned on him. A small smile threatened at his lips and maybe he would have showed it if he wasn't so damn worried about her right now. She said she didn't want to be alone and he snorted, his gaze softening as he looked over and saw the tears streaming down her face. He wanted to reach out his muzzle and brush them away but wasn't sure she was ready for that kind of contact so he held back, a worried scowl on his lips. "I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere." He assured her gently.

She started pleading then, saying she wanted to get someplace safe and she didn't want to be alone through this. He nodded vigorously, looking around for the closest sanctuary. "I've got you, Primrose." As she startled to crumple again, he held himself against her, offering as much support as she needed. She urged him to hurry and he looked around again, finlly deciding on a group of palm trees over by a pool of water. The palm trees gave shade and the water could be helpful when it was all over. He started toward the trees, supporting her and walking as slowly as necessary to get her there in one piece. She yelled that the baby was coming and he felt his heartbeat start to race. This was it! Did they always go through so much pain? The large stallion finally got her to the group of trees. "We're here, Primrose. Do you need to lie down?" His brows furrowed in worry and puzzlement. He didn't know anything about how this was supposed to go. Did she stand or lie down? What could he do to help?
