Liland was alert, he just chose to not react to much. Why should he? He keeps loosing mares, foals. Sure he kept the bay this time, great. But not long after he told Zjeena she could leave and foaling season arrived he soon recieved another kick and that was the loss of Sabela after she birthed their son. Sabela meant a lot to him just like Zjeena had. But this was worse, At least Zjeena was alive, Sabela he would not see her till he crossed the bridge and how would he tell his son about his mother? Rayna was struggling right now as well and he felt bad not being their for his daughter and heir.

One ear flicks to the side as Xiomara comes to stand next to him. He looks at her reflection as she speaks. She wasn't wrong in the slightest on either aspect. He wore his heart on his sleeve even though he was trying to be strong.
