First Breath After A Coma

I would honestly love you now,
But I would lovingly let you down.

A searing pressure continued to throb against the back of Jabari's head. The headache had persisted for days now, ever since he was forced from the shores of Tinuvel and brought here to Atlantis. The painted stallion didn't know what to make of it - his body was surely in revolt, given the lack of nutrition lately, coupled with the exertion of the forced swim. But the pounding only got worse the longer Celestria lingered around him.

Jabari was still stuffing his face with long, green chutes and flat, lush leaves that made up the jungle floor when the mare found him. The Prairie stallion couldn't think of a horse he hated more. Not even his uncle Kasabian, who'd tried to kill his grandmother. Not even Warsaw. Celestria was by far, the worst he'd ever met. And to think, there was a time not that long ago when he felt a strong sense of affection for the pretty mare. His stomach still lurched when he thought about the foal they'd produced together, and the short days of his ill-ridden life. What a mistake he had made. So many had paid for it.

His chestnut-colored ears were laced flat against his poll at the sound of her voice, his brown eyes narrowing into tight slits as she sauntered up. Jabari bared his teeth at her, warning her not to come closer. He had always been taught to never become violent with a mare, but Celestria was an exception. She was no lady, she was not worthy of his respect. He'd happily bite her, if she was stupid to come close enough.

He listens to what she has to say and merely scoffs in response. When Celestria stumbled upon him, she was drunk with power. She saw an opportunity to stake her claim over Paradise when Rougaru's guard was down. Jabari had to give her some credit - the mare was certainly resourceful. However, her reign was short lived. Rougaru quickly reinstated his power. So whatever hold Celestria thought she had over him was also null and void, at this point. At least in Jabari's mind.

Her words were jibberish and he was happy to laugh it off, until she brought up their son. His sarcastic smile was wiped clean from his whiskered lips then, and he stared down his nose in disgust at the mare. Rage boiled under the surface, deep within his gut. And finally, he lunged forward at her, his jaws snapping hoping to push her down or at least land a bite on her fair hide. "Don't you dare use him as an excuse for whatever the fuck you think this is." He spat, his voice roaring. "I will never obey you, you filthy piece of shit." He flicked his tail over his haunches as his pink nostrils flared, sucking in sharp breaths. "I am here because you drove me here. And I will wait out my sentence, but it'll be a cold day in hell before you think I'll aid you or Rougaru in anyway."
