Zjeena's greatest strength is perhaps her greatest weakness. The little mare tries to see the good in nearly everyone, and she gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. Despite every mistake Liland made, Zjeena could still see what good was in him. She gave him the benefit of the doubt and returned to him after her long imprisonment. All any of that did was lose her her twins, and leave her with a broken heart.
It is, however, this same attitude that has formed her bond with both Rougaru and Monster. While others may have seen an enemy that day on the battle field, Zjeena saw a worthy sparring partner. She would rather fight alongside such a fierce opponent than against her. She would rather learn from her, than try to tear her down.
While others may have held Rougaru simply as a homewrecker, Zjeena decided to ask why. In her quest to learn the truth, Zjeena learned a lot about Rougaru. He revealed a side of himself far sweeter and far more complex than his reputation describes. She hoped to find clarity, and along the way, found romance.
Zjeena's willingness to trust, and her openness, have left her vulnerable to hurt, but at the same time, has left her heart open to every joyous emotion. She experiences life on a full spectrum of love and loss, experience and learning. And she has no desire to change.
Zjeena chuckles. Monster's confidence is exhilarating. Zjeena can understand Rougaru's affinity for her. "You are the best chance I've got, Monster. None of these other donkeys could stand up to me like you could."
All jokes aside, Zjeena really could use a friend right now. Some lighthearted banter fosters a better mood, but true healing comes with facing what brings you down. "I'll live." Zjeena shrugs. "I didn't expect things to turn out like this at all. Liland really hurt me. I miss Nattergal and Havelle, but honestly, it's all for the best." Zjeena looks up at Monster. Her eyes shine, but there are no more tears to shed. "I'm here now, aren't I? I'm glad to be back, and I'm glad to be welcome back. You and Roug are a lot to be thankful for."
