Sanctuary Communities Posted on 2/15/2020 at 19:06:27 by Les Ostrom - 19
Just read an interesting internet report by FAIR {Federation for American Immigration Reform) on subject matter. Among the things I learned:
- Before the Obama administration, there were only a handful of sanctuary communities in the US. When Obama's administration decided to make some needed changes to our immigration policies, that number leaped to over 300. Under Trump, that number has again nearly doubled to 534.
- A poll conducted among citizens of Mexico revealed that 58% of its citizens believe the US unfairly took much of the Southwest away from Mexico as a result of the US-Mexico War.
- A lot of injustices/unfairness exist as a result of the sanctuary policies. For example, an illegal from one state (say Tennessee) can enroll in a college in a sanctuary state outside of Tennessee (say Washington State University) and only have to pay the in-resident price of $10,500 whereas his legal US citizen buddy from Tennessee would have to pay the non-resident fee of $25,000
- Among horror stories about sanctuary communities are those involving the murders and MS-13 gang members.
Conclusion: We need to rid the US of sanctuary communities! Replies:
