Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

When Wasp first heard the rumor that Drika and her mother were no longer in the Lagoon, it provoked a strange, almost new feeling for the otherwise stoic and steadfast mare. She'd heard that Cullen had traded them to his ally, Rougaru. Wasp couldn't let it go. It infected all her thoughts and tugged at her heartstrings. She was bound by her commitment to the Peak to try to get her sisters back home. Especially after failing to keep Merte safe, this plight became a personal one for the stout, dark mare. She hated revisiting the memory of having to tell Drika of her failure. But despite it, she couldn't keep the image of Drika's disappointment from the front of her mind.

The Peak warrior is appreciative of Rougaru's understanding. She can see it behind his deep emerald eyes that he knows her plight. He can see why this matters so much to her. She'd never been one for physical touch, but in this moment, as the silver bay stallion presses his face to hers, she does not balk. The mare breathes a heavy sigh as he pulls away, and a melancholy air hangs between them. They both knew what was coming - and they'd each play a part in it. A chill ran down the length of her spine when she thought of seeing Rougaru on the battlefield. She never wanted to envision such a thing, but here it was.

Wasp offered her friend a sly smirk as the air between them changes, and his words lift their spirits. She bats her thick, dark tail over her haunches in response and bobs her heavy head, before turning back toward the see.

"I'll see you out there."
