Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

The mare remained calm and at ease as Wasp's large and hardly quiet body approached. She very casually moved to stand from her tucked position among the grass. This stranger seemed nice enough, as she flashed Wasp a soft smile and was quick to quip back with the knowledge she had about the Crossing Isle. The Peak warrior merely bobbed her head, her amber eyes studying the newcomer as she breathed in her fresh and unfamiliar scent. Whether she lived here before or not, she certainly had not been on the islands in some time.

"I'm sure it is." The dark mare finally croaked allowing her own gaze to drift across the pastures around them. She breathed a heavy sigh then, her heart beating against the confines of her chest, reminding her she shouldn't dilly-dally too long. Rougaru was waiting, after all.

"You should still be careful out here if you're traveling alone." Wasp offered in fair warning. "This place is hardly what it used to be." She didn't mean to sound so eerie and foreboding, but she wanted the stranger to know she shouldn't prance through these parts without a care in the world. The entire chain of islands was on edge. War was on the horizon. It divided territories and entire families. It pitted longstanding lineages responsible of so much history here against one another. And more importantly, the freedom this stranger talked so nonchalantly about was at stake. The little power the female gender had could be very well ripped from them.

One day soon, if the Gods were against them, even the Falls wouldn't be safe.
