the world must daily be overcome.

the flesh must daily be crucified.

Bahadır

His sleep is intermittent, broken by soft words whispered over his prone body. Darkness comes for him again and he does not protest, he lets it consume him.

"Mother, what ever happened to father?" Young Bahadir asked his mother as she grazed quietly beneath the shade of a fig tree. Her vibrant chestnut coat glistened beneath the midmorning sun, with a sigh she turned to look at her curious son. It pained her to speak of father, he could see it in her sorrowful dark eyes. Yet, she does not hesitate to tell him the truth.

"He was killed," she whispered, her voice grave and full of emotion. She stepped closer to him with swift steps, she wrapped her curved neck around him. "That is all I know my dear Bahadir," she breathed. "But if you need to know more find Evren."

"Evren," he groans, as his dark eyes flutter open briefly before clinching shut again. He doesn't know if she is even here or who she even is, but it is the only name his mother had left him with. As the pain subsides and he can finally breath, he feels the presence of Naz. She has waited with him, not leaving his side and insuring his safety. She is the shadow that stands over his prone body while he has slept and regained his strength.

'Asmae sawti, Bahadir,

Her words are softly spoken, hanging between them, beckoning him to return to her. He can feel the strength return to his bones, as she breathes life back into him. Fight for what is yours. Yes, he would. His dark eyes open to peer into hers of crystal blue and gold, he is caught in this moment. His heart thunders wildly in his chest, threatening to leap from his chest onto the desert's searing sands.

"shukraan lakum, Naz" his words are soft and meant only for her ears.

He pulls his legs beneath him, and then begins the tedious task of standing. Gingerly he rocks to his hooves, leaning against Naz for support when needed. As he stands fully, he turns his dished crown, and nods to her as he steps to the water's edge. He drops his lips to the rippling, crystal clear waters. He greedily slurps the water, as he lifts his head the water dribbles down his chin and drops into the wet sand at his hooves.

"How can I show you my appreciation for what you have done today?" he asks as he turns his crown to look at Naz, his dark eyes search her bicolored pools.
