The Number of Nevada Democratic Primary Voters as a Percentage of the Total Number of Democratic Primary Voters Posted on 2/22/2020 at 19:18:58 by Bill Crawford, (14)
Checking the numbers, it appears that in 2016 the total number of Nevada Democratic primary voters was 84,000; this, as opposed to the total number of Democratic primary voters nationally, which was 57.6 million; i.e., the number of Nevada Democratic primary voters represented about 1/1000 of the total number of Democratic primary voters.
This makes one ask why the outcome of the 2020 Nevada Democratcic primary is thought to be so important.
I guess the answer has to be that the Nevada results could provide an early indication of how things might turn out nationally.
I guess another reason might be that the Nevada Democratic electorate is more diverse ( i.e., more African Americans and more Latinos) than the Democratic electorates in the other early voting primaries--a diversity which is more akin to the diversity of the Democratic electorate nationally.
