It had been too long since he'd come into the Crossing and tried to make conversation. He couldn't remember the last time he claimed a mare or just stepped out to see who was interested in just talking. With the war going on, being gone from his herd too long was a bad idea but he still believed he needed to make connections. He had grown to enjoy the relationships he was building with his mares. Vihaan had gone to Luthien to check on her family and he was worried sick about her. Akello kept asking about his mom but Cain did his best to keep the colt busy and let him know that even at this distance, she was under Cain's protection so that meant nothing would happen to her. He hoped that would keep Akello's worry in check. After all, hell hath no fury for what he would do if anyone thought to touch Vihaan.

He'd already had to fight back a stallion from another herd who thought to steal her. Cain wasn't backing down. He would protect any of his mares with everything he had. He didn't have the biggest herd on the islands, but he liked to think that he was attentive to all his mares as any good lead stallion should be. He wanted them all to be happy. He knew the Desert wasn't anyone's idea of paradise, but to him, it was home. And hopefully it had become that to his mares. But to make a short story long, he found himself swimming to the Crossing just to see who was around. Shaking the salt water from his coat as he stepped from the waves, Cain looked around, a wry grin tugging at his lips when he saw the paint mare. She had pretty blue eyes and seemed so blissful. He just had to see what she was all about.

"Well, hello there. Beautiful day, isn't it?" He called out to her, keeping his distance until he could gauge if she was open to company. Tilting his head, he studied her for a moment, his tail swishing at his flanks as he reached out his muzzle to greet her and waited patiently for permisson to approach. "My name's Cain. Who might you be?"
