Seeing her again was like a breath of fresh air after too long being underwater. His lungs ached for that breath and yet it was always just out of reach. Until he saw Talien again. She was the air in his lungs, the sun to his horizon. His feelings for her never went away and never withered. Even now, his heart had never felt so full. All of a sudden, nothing else mattered but having her in his life again. He never wanted to leave her again. Every time she murmured his name, it felt like gentle fingers tickling his skin. Eletricity crackled beneath his fur and he'd never felt so alive. He could smell a herd on her skin and knew she wasn't his, at least not officially. But he would see to that soon enough. He wouldn't be happy until she was his and only his. No one else should get to touch such perfection. She giggled and his lips tugged into a smile. The sound was infectious. She told him she was no princess and he snorted with a shake of his head. "That's where you're wrong. You'll always be a princess, for I am your knight." He gave her that impish grin and even lowered his head in a bow, his tail swishing as he straightened back up. When he told her that he would always find her, she teased him about taking his time and he laughed. "Everything has its time, princess. This could be ours." His eyes shined with new hope, emerald dancing and glittering in their depths. When he asked about her new herd, she said that it found her and he raised a brow in question. Did the stallion claim her against her will or was that just a joke? It was always hard to tell with Talien. She would water anything down to make it seem like a small deal just to keep him from losing his temper. She told him she lived in the Bay and that she was the stallion's Beta. At least that meant she was getting some sort of respect, even if Dex felt she deserved to be Queen. She deserved to be worshipped. He chuckled when she teased about her wisdom. "I've always told you you're wise beyond your years. You acted like an adult when you should have been a silly foal like me." He said with a wink. When she said she had a daughter, he felt himself tense, his face sobering and he couldn't help but look away for a minute. He didn't know why but he'd always thought she would be pure by the time he found her....he was a fool and he knew it. Of course she would have children. She always wanted them. But she was meant for so much more than popping out children for a lead stallion who didn't know everything about her. She said she was caring for an orphaned foal but that was just like her. A heart of gold. Finally he cleared his throat awkwardly and looked back up at her. "Amber Rose...that's a beautiful name. If she looks anything like her mother, I'm sure she's lovely." He said with his best try for a smile. Then she asked about him and he sighed. He didn't want to talk about himself. He never did. She asked why he was gone so long and he scowled thoughtfully. She deserved to know. "I was...trying to be better. To deserve you. I wanted to ask your father permission but by the time I came back, you were already gone." He studied her expression, wondering what her reaction would be to that. She said that she waited and he felt the pang in his chest. Of course, she did. He was just too late. He always would be, it seemed. He sighed again and took a small step toward her, his eyes softening. "I'm sorry, Talien. I'm so sorry." Looking down for a moment, he stomped a hoof in frustration and then looked at her. "Can you forgive me? What can I do to make it right?" The words died on his lips, the words he really wanted to say. What can I do to make you mine?
