as I wandered the forest, the green leaves among, i heard a wild flower singing a song

at another time in her life she would have been entranced by the prospect of exploring the desert isle… to learn the style of life necessary to survive in the dunes. her heart of hearts was not a stationary one… she had always wished to see the world and all its hidden jewels. now, faced with this abrupt change, she is forced to see it in a different light rather than if she had come on her own, willingly. still she realizes that the circumstances are not bahadir’s fault. it would not be fair of her to blame him for this and so she doesn’t. but it still hurts.

she drops her head some, exhaling a heavy breath as he explains his question, and his position. when he slows, turning to look at her she feels unnecessary tears welling in her eyes. it makes her cheeks burn hotly, to be so emotional in front of a stranger but when she finally lifts her head to meet his gaze she sees only kindness. she takes a second to settle herself before nodding softly, following his gaze out to the horizon. as she looks closer she begins to truly see the dunes and some of the beauty he has spoken about.

thank you… for being so kind. i.. i know it will take some time to get used to thinks but i will try to be happy. she sees no point in dwelling in her misery… she will not forget jabari and she will certainly inquire about visiting daphne and looking for dahlia when she has been here a little longer. perhaps if he grew to trust her some she would be allowed to venture off the isle. then, in an effort to keep the conversation going, and in some way divert it from herself, she speaks again. what of your life Bahadir? i can see the dunes suit you. have you been here very long?
