Or maybe she was wrong?

Nereid turned back to the other woman as words reached her auds. She had been heard? A light flush filled her cheeks and her eyes drifted to the ground with embarrassment. She had not meant to share the name she had taken to calling Bahadir. It wasn't as though she was ashamed but the word could be misinterpreted.

"No apologies are necessary. It is I who should apologise. I have seen you around but have never taken the initiative to seek out your name...?" she ends the statement with a question painting her tone. She meant no insult with her lack of knowledge.

"Soter means a saviour, a deliverer. When I was little, my dam spoke of a guardian who personified safety, preservation and deliverance from harm." At this, she fell quiet for a moment. A forlorn look briefly passed over her face before she shooed away errant thoughts. Thinking about her mother could wait for another time. "It is obvious who I speak of with the explanation given, is it not?"

Nereid gave a little laugh, shaking her head and allowing a weary grin to play across her lips. "I take it that you have not heard the language of my home before? My mother was quick to make sure I would not forget the language or stories of my people."

Maybe she would enjoy learning more?

"May I ask what brings you to the Oasis today? You are not obliged and don't mean to keep you from your destination." It seemed Nereid could not stop talking. Silly her.
