Anyone who spent time in Japan know it is the part of Japanes culture. male are considered superior to females. this appears to be some direct business venue influence. call it mysogeny, but, Japanese history and culture is deeply imbedded in the people. in the old days, women were to walk behind men (wives too), never intrude in "male " talk, etc etc. one of the interesting ways how the American male in Japan was so attractive to Japanes women because they treated them as a US woman. and it was unique. i spent a year in Japan as a bachelor LT USMC and traveled around in Cities and
Tokyo and small villages the farmlands , and this mysogany in the business place is a surprise to me as josans (young japanese women) have begun tobe independent in Japan and it quite upsetting to Japanese men. My daughter in the US worked for a Japanes cosmetic company and traveled to Tokyo Japan on company business and was treated by the big owner like a Japanese business man (he liked her advice And skills)and this startled the Japanes women in the company, She was something special to them, At a business meetin I as a civilian many years later I sat by japanes business woman on their company board ( I think it was a a move to impress foreigners, AT a table for business talk she ptroperly filled my glas with berr and I damn near upset everything when I returned the favor of pour her a drink. I could see the puzzling glancess as they probably it was some US stunt., NOT a Japanese culture thing. By the way. I like Japanes Culture. It is a great country to live in and visit.
