Sing Me A Sweet Sweet Song

The air around her seemed to change. It started to infect her before she could even notice it was happening. There was a sense her ears and her body had been trained to pick up on for her entire life and the instincts had not died. If anything they had intensified. Before she even knew it her song had lowered and slowed until it became a soft whisper under her breath and finally turning into a hum. Once her singing had ceased she was more acutely attentive to her surroundings. Suddenly the safety of the falls did not seem as safe anymore. Her eyes widened and ears flicked back and forth, trying to find the source of the feeling.

Like a deer, when a shift in the reeds caught her attention she froze. Her body started to tremble with the preparation to flee. Blue nostrils flared. Her breathing heavied and increased. A rugged shadow stepped forward. Zimri flinched, everything in her screaming to flee.

It was not until she saw the face of the creature that approached that all tension flushed from her body, leaving her dizzy. Under the blood, through the snarls that twisted his mane, tail, and face, she knew that body. She had dreamt of that body pressed against her every day.

Ruger. She breathed as if all her dreams had come true. NEver had she thought she would see him again. Her heart broke as her eyes grazed over his body and took in every unfamiliar scar he had acquired. Without any sense of fear, she stepped toward him and held her nose towards his, dearly wishing to take him in again. Is it really you? It was as if she was the one afraid she was dreaming yet again and that this would all vanish before her eyes if they touched, or if she dreamed too hard.
