the bright bay mare tries to think of all the things she remembers of her father, orhan. they are few. she had been so young, only a days old filly, when her mother had whisked her from the isles. she is amazed at all the things she has in common with the stallion beside her, besides their parentage. both are veritable strangers to their homeland and yet they both have sought out this place above all else. both must feel the sense of belonging to this desert landscape as their father and mothers had.

her deep chocolate eyes drink in his features, the soft eyes and masculine stature, and catalog them in her memory. she holds her breath as he mentions evren, wondering if he knows anything of her whereabouts. maybe, with his help, finding her sister wouldn’t be so difficult. it had been a long time since she looked and perhaps the search would go differently this time around. she bobs her head softly, listening, thinking. when curiosity fills his eyes, and he asks expectantly about their father she offers a sad smile, nodding gently.

her voice is a mix of wistfulness and nostalgia as she speaks the few truths she knows about their sire. ”i did… i was so young then.” she hesitates for a moment, gathering her closely held memories before continuing, ”i remember him being quiet and gentle…. and his eyes. he had eyes like yours. they were warm and thoughtful. he was good. i know he was good.”

she had spent so many years wondering why her mother had left… especially remembering orhan as she did. but it was a mystery she likely wouldn’t ever uncover. so all she has to offer are those words and she knows it isn’t much… but it is something at least
