Bill I agree with you that in the case of military and government retiree the figures are a bit of an overkill. However, for less fortunate retirees this period could be a disaster. I have still have some IRAs and stock portfolios that I set up after the Navy and impact has been significant even with some rapid trading on my part. I live comfortably on my retirement so I really haven't been affected.

The problem is some retirees have been hit hard. How do you quickly seperate the haves frm the havenots.
