it will have to go through me first

The more he looked into her beautiful eyes, so much like windows into her soul, so open to someone who knew just how to read them, the more he knew that she was indeed hiding something, something she didn't want to share with him, at least not yet. He had learned long ago hwo to figure out if she was lying or keeping something from him and he'd always been good at weaseling whatever it was out of her as foals, but times were different and she knew his darkness so maybe she did it to protect him. In fact, knowing her, it definitely was for his own protection. And yet still he wanted to know. But not today. It could wait, whatever it was. If it was urgent, it would come up one way or another soon enough and he'd deal with it then but for now, he would bask in the happiness that being back in her company brought him.

When he told her she was too good for him, he saw the haunted look in her eyes for a moment and his brows pinched together in puzzlement, once more wondering at the secrets behind those eyes. She didn't believe him, but then she never did take compliments all that well, not the best ones, anyway. She said she was far from it and he thought he saw the glisten of unshed tears in her eyes before she blinked and went for his mane playfully, commenting on how he never blamed her, even when they got in trouble as foals. He chuckled. "Your ideas were epic, princess. I would never turn down a good time, not from you." His eyes softened at the end even as he nuzzled at her ear teasingly, knowing he could brush his lips across the edges just so and tickle her.

He would never turn her down, not for anything she asked. When they spoke of her father, he was glad to see amusement and light back in her eyes as she agreed that he would definitely not be happy. Then she said he was too far away to stop her and he grinned, his eyes twinkling wtih mischief. "Not that he's ever been able to stop you anyway." She was always quite rebellious, but the apple of her father's eye anyway. Somehow she was good at slithering out of trouble. When the worry struck her expression, his brows furrowed again in concern and he tried to read her features, wishing she would open up more to him. Sure, they had all the time in the world now for that but he hated to see that look on her face. Finally she cleared her throat and nudged his shoulder, asking if he would come to the Bay with her. Her words of wanting had his breath stuck in his throat for a moment, his eyes widened slightly as he took it all in.

She wanted him, only him. The words were almost too good to be true. She said that she would never feel safe unless he was with her and that's how he found the breath to speak again. Once again he stepped to her and buried his face in her mane, taking her in, all of her. Then he pulled back just enough so she could hear him. "I would never want to be without you again, Talien. You are my other half and I've spent far too long dreaming of you to let you slip through my hooves again. You have me. I am yours. Where you go, I follow." And he meant every word. When she led, he would be right on her trail for he couldn't imagine a world without her in it.

OOC: We can do a little more here if you want or just go ahead and move it to the Bay so he can meet Liland, your choice ;)
