A FLICKER IN THE GLOOM

D I A M A N T

If Diamant had eyebrows, he would have raised them when Cherokee openly offered the information that she was raped by Ivar. Instead, his amber eyes widened slightly in horror, then dropped to the filly beside the mare, hoping she was too young to understand exactly what her mother was saying. Yet again, he was left speechless by the mare’s honesty, and his ears flicked back as he searched his brain for the appropriate response.

Thankfully, Letavice broke the silence. Yet his question was no less blunt than what Cherokee had said. Inwardly, Diamant wondered if every horse on this island was just as outspoken.

Pushing past the awkwardness that sat in his throat like a rock that wouldn’t go down, Diamant answered the young stallion’s question as honestly as he could. “I have family there. Well, a brother, and others in the Peak next door. I don’t intend on living there forever - it’s just a temporary setup.” In truth, he didn’t care for the place, but he needed to be near family while he was working on recovering his memory. At least, that’s what they had insisted. As much as he loved his family, now Diamant wondered how necessary it was.

He broke into a grateful smile when Letavice offered to show him around. “Sure, that would be nice. I was just saying to Cherokee that I once had family here, but I haven’t been back in a long time. It would be good to refresh my memory.”

[ooc: so sorry for the wait! we can leave things here <3]
