~~ I'm coming home to breathe again,
to start again..
It was cold. Water clinging to her brown skin like a second coat, small crystals forming on the feathered tassels around her hooves with each step she takes, drawing herself away from beach and into the cover of the trees. Winter was near then she thinks, taking note of the small white flurries falling from the morning sky that was overcast with clouds. Was coming home a mistake? Winter was a cruel thing, determined to always take something or someone within it's frigidly cold grasps. Pushing the dark thought from her mind Costello focuses on the now, how her hooves felt sinking into the dirt below with each step and the crisp morning air her nostrils eagerly inhale and out; today was good day, no need for the darkening mood. The trees part for her then, emptying her out into a vast meadow that was probably much more beautiful during spring and summer, because as of right now everything looked dead and muted in color and life.
Keeping to the shadows she can't help but to wonder if her old friend Al-sarim was still slinking around, remembering the way she had danced for him and he in turn. It was silly to think of him now, he was long gone, but he had done what no one else had done; given her a name.
Taraneh; he said it meant song. Oh the irony she thinks on it now, a smile smile playing at her dark whiskered lips. At least no one outright called her a mute, instead giving her names such as Costello and of course Taraneh. Looking out across the meadow she wonders if one of the few bodies that lingered here and there would be the next one to give her another name.
