Were they different than he was used to? The stallion’s eyes a skipping stone across the Meadow. A stranger, a boy thicker and taller than Snake himself. Another man crossing the Meadow, moving toward him? As he got closer, Snake realized the stranger was… young. To be young and on your own was strange to him. At least back home, they stayed as a family unit for far longer.
His ears flicker as the man speaks, head canting to the side. Something about his speech pattern was strange, stilted. Still gathering a grasp of language, of interacting with strangers. Snake didn’t blame him. His tail flickered at his haunches, looking to the man’s face. He’s not used to looking up to anyone. Were they all giants here? Had Snake washed up on the shore of a land of absolute monsters? As he thinks of an answer, the woman appeared.
As stripey as he is, but red. Snake is thoughtful as she approaches, unable to hold back the smirk at her comment. Fed well, as the youth should be, but even still. Big. His eyes flicker to the woman, taking a look at her stripes. Similar. Right. He thinks for a moment of his own family, with a slight pang. They would have realized by now that he was gone, and he wasn’t coming back. “Truly, I’ve not seen anyone your… ah, stature about.” Snake relaxed over his left hind leg, thinking for a long moment. “Haven’t really seen anyone about, until now.” His gaze shifted from the man to the mare and back again. “It’s been awfully quiet, honestly.” Snake’s tone is thoughtful, considering. “Have you?” He looks to each in turn, curious. How long had they been here, had they been alone.
