My dearest Melinoë you are both the infernal darkness and the heavenly light. You are a guardian for the lost souls and the moon that guides a wayfaring man home. Her mother breathed the last words over her and then her dark eyes closed, never to open again. It had fractured her. But she had not realized her father who had just been there moments before, is now also gone. Little did she know that he had taken this moment to disappear in into the wisps of fog, abandoning his daughter.
She looked up with cerulean pools of blue with tears streaking down her cheeks. "Bampαs?" Her eyes grew wide, fear clenched at her heart. "Bampαs?!" she squealed into the night, the silvery moon as a witness and the curling fog as it wrapped itself around her dainty legs. The realization sank into her chest, her father was not coming back. A sob caught in her throat as she turned to curl up beside her mother's prone body. The cool night's breath whispered over the land around her and ruffled her silvery tufts of mane along her nape.
"Persephone, goddess mother..." the prayer became inaudible as she tiled her nose to the heavens and whispered.

In the still of night she had arrived. She had drug herself from the ocean's depths, water clung to every inche of her silver and onyx body. Poseidon had showed her favor and granted her a safe passage to this lonely shore. The water hissed and protested her departure from it as it clung to her feathers on her legs and pulled at her hooves. An exhausted sigh escaped her lips as she collapsed on the sand, closed her eyes and fell into a restless sleep. She dreamt of betrayal and hatred, lust and passion, and ... of the gods.

The morning dawns with a burst of vibrant oranges and pale pinks, it washes this foreign land in its colors. Her salted incrusted eyelashes flutter open and a gasp escapes her lips. "Phaethon, bless you for the morning light," she whispers into the still morning air. Every muscle screams its protest as she pushes herself from the sandy shore. Grains of sand cling to her unkempt mane and to her cheeks; she assumes she is a disheveled mess. She heaves herself on to her hooves, swivels her head and takes in all that this land offers.
The land is blanketed in a thin crust of snow, little tendrils of yellow grass poke out just beyond the sands, and there are other inhabitants. She tilts her head as she watches them, curiosity fills her cerulean eyes. She has been alone most of her life, only the gods and goddesses to converse with. She pushes herself from the surf's edge and into a vast meadow. The grass crunches beneath her and a frigid gust of wind chills her to the skin. She shivers against the gust. She has never been in a land of frigid cold, she had heard whispers of lands frozen but never seen such a thing for herself.
A crimson form draws her eyes he moves with slow ambling steps. Then another draws her gaze, another but she is larger. Her eyes grow wide. She surely must of been born from the Titan goddess Gaea, from her blood that was spilt on the ground. Her heart clenches with fear and thunders wildly against her ribs as she is drawn towards the pair. Her ears rotate atop her crown nervously.
"You are of the Titan goddess Gaea? You are her blood?" she asks the mare. Then she turns her attention to the crimson man, her heart flutters wildly inside her chest. It has been years since she has been this close to others...
