He liked that there were other foals on the islands, others that he could befriend and learn about. Jordan was new and exciting, an adventure in itself. He wanted to impress her so she would never forget him and the Desert. He showed her all the oases, watching the look of fascination on her face when she stared into the water. When she jumped in with him, he laughed and splashed back with her, jumping and bucking and kicking up water in all directions as he snorted and played. When they were done, they walked under the warmth of the sun, heading toward the underground cave. The sun dried their coats and Akello kept finding himself glancing over at Jordan, taking in her unique coat. It looked every curlier when it was wet. When they got closer, he could feel the tension rising and he wanted to keep expounding on that feeling. It made the adventure that much more intense. He wanted to give Jordan the best time of her life. When they reached the cave, they both stopped, staring into the darkness beyond. He told her he would protect her cause he would, at least to the best of his ability. He knew he was young but he watched his father and he knew a little bit about fighting. He would do whatever it took to keep Jordan out of danger. She said okay and he let out a breath of relief. Somehow it felt better just knowing that she believed in him. When he stepped inside the cave, she pressed against him and it gave him comfort but he tried to pretend it was him comforting her. She needed to be protected after all. Once their eyes adjusted, he was able to show her the caves he'd learned about in his time here. He took her to the cool spring that fed a pool inside the caves and he showed her his favorite chamber, one where the holes in the ceiling let in just enough light that it looked like a starry sky. He stared up at it with a smile, hoping she liked it as much as he did. Once there was a strange slithering sound and he knew it was a snake. Placing himself between the sound and Jordan, he warned her back before stomping his hooves and making low snorting noises. Finally the noise went away so he knew he'd successfully drove away the snake. He stood a little straighter after that, feeling proud of himself. When they finally made it to the other side of the cave system, he pranced into the sunlight, blinking to let his eyes adjust again. "So...what's next?" He watched Jordan with eagerness.
