Meadow

A chill runs the length of his spine as winter's frigid breath whispers across his arched nape. He stands prone just on the edge of the hissing surf, water runs in rivulets down his sleek russet coat. Yes, it was winter on the other Isles, but his shores did not see the white fluffy precipitation. The sun dips toward the horizon, and colors the heavens above with vibrant pinks and brilliant oranges. It transforms the quiet world around him into a kaleidoscope, only for his viewing.

He steps across the hardened sand on light hooves, a prance in his step and his tail flags over his hindquarters. Delicate nares flutter as he brings in the scents of those who linger here in the Crossing. With each step he can feel the warmth spread over his body, as his muscles move and pushes blood into his extremities. His hooves crunch through the thin crust of snow that lays across the yellow and brittle grasses beneath.

He moves with ease across the meadow, each stride made with purpose and confidence. A unfamiliar face draws his attention, she is colored much like him, except for the speckle of white that adorns his sides. He pauses momentarily as he watches her prance around the meadow, and a soft smile tugs at his lips. Intriguing creature. He comments to himself before he makes his way toward her. He notices the brilliant sheen of her coat and the proud swivel of her head.

"Masa' alkhayr," he offers a formal greeting in his native tongue. "Ra, offers us this bountiful beauty. Wouldn't you agree?" he says thoughtfully as he lifts his head to look back at the sun, as it dips to the horizon.
