There was a time when I was alone

MY ONLY FRIEND WAS THE MAN IN THE MOON

Oh

Nerys blinks rapidly as the colt reaches out to her. She is not prepared for the blazing inferno that spreads across her cheeks nor the way her breath catches within her throat. Why...? She couldn't help but question before noticing the stem within his grasp.

Maybe not a bad first impression but she sure had made quite the impression. Well, maybe he was used to mares falling at his feet? Of course, maybe NOT the way she had done so but still! Yep. That was it. She would live with the thought that mares always decided to just fall at his hooves at the sight of his beauty. Definitely how the world worked and no one could tell her different.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Bacardi!" It was accompanied by a bright smile and a small dip of her crown. Her mother had instilled some manners into her clumsy daughter.

Nerys was quick to follow her new friend. She really wanted to find more butterflies and he seemed like a nice enough guy. He hadn't made too much fuss at her clumsy actions and brought her to more flowers. All good points in her book.

She was distracted by the thoughts concerning her new companion so his sudden stop caused her to walk a few steps by him before realising it. Nerys peered back at him before blinking rapidly as his words penetrated her thoughts. They were here! Turning back to the sights in front of her, Nerys could not help the gasp that left her lips. There were flowers everywhere, in all sorts of colors and stages of life. Other equines littered the open space but Nerys had little eyes for them. Her mismatched gaze was riveted on the sight of a handful of butterflies fluttering not too far from where they stood. "Bacardi they are beautiful! You do not know how much this means to me. I had thought I would only have Mr. and Mrs.Butterfly to keep me company but you have gifted me this." Her words are choked at the end.

It was not easily understood, her love for butterflies. Nerys had been an adventurous filly growing up. So much so that her sire was oft the person sent to find her when she was gone too long. He would inevitably find her poking her nose in the random den or stream, attempting to befriend all wildlife. The spotted stallion had oft brought her to a quiet clearing and steered his daughter to befriending the visiting winged insects. They would spend hours attempting to get as many butterflies as they could in their manes and rolling in the flowers. They were her fondest memories.

"Have I taken you from some obligation? I would feel horrible if you had something else to do besides lead a silly filly to butterflies of all things." If her eyes were a little misty, she didn't comment on it. "Is there any way I can repay you for this kindness?"

"this is what i am saying"
