The atrocities and violent acts weigh heavy across his shoulders. Some days he feels as if he can leave this past behind him, to truly start anew.. but then karma rears her ugly head. It as if she wishes to trip him up, she gains pleasure in his fall. He shakes out his onyx unkempt mane. No, he has to hold hope that his past will fade away, that he can do enough right and stay on the path that leads him from the darkness.
He can feel her gaze on his back and finally she speaks. Her words at first cause his heart to still in his chest. Perhaps. The implications of such words draw a breath from his lips. Perhaps. She agreed with him?
But then her next words send his heart thundering within his chest. I do not want anyone else. He didn't know that he had been holding his breath, until it whooshes from his lips. He pivots back to face her, his glacial eyes find hers full of emotion. His glacial eyes soften and a lump grows within his throat.
He listens to her words intently. A new path that we can walk together. A sigh lingers on his lips as he reaches his muzzle to lay it on the bridge of her nose, where he places soft kisses up it. "I have never known what I wanted until now," he muses aloud, his words just above a whisper. "You have shared with me things that would crush anyone beneath its weight. You doubt your strength but I see it beneath the surface, fierce like the dreki's fire."
"I want you," he whispers into the bridge of her nose. "I want to build our life around the love we share." His glacial eyes fill with emotion and his heart thunders wildly against his ribs.
