When she looked at him, he could see the distrust and if anything, it saddened him to know she must have had some bad experience with someone to find it so hard to trust that he just wanted her to be safe and wanted. Or maybe someone just taught her from a young age never to trust the smooth words of a stallion. Either way, he wouldn't be forcing anything on her so he waited patiently for the words of rejection to come. When she took a step back, he held his ground and did not follow, letting her have as much space as she needed to feel comfortable. He hated that she chose to be in the darkness when he could see so much potential in her to be so much more. She told him that she appreciated the offer and he tilted his head and pricked his ears, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Then it came. He let out a soft sigh and dipped his head. She seemed to be so uncertain, as if she might even be second guessing herself, but she looked more than capable of taking care of herself if she needed to. He just wanted her to know the offer was there if she needed it. She turned away then and went to walk away, though she looked back at him and his brow lifted expectantly. She said it was a pleasure but she must go and he snorted gently and shook out his mane. "Well, I wish you luck wherever you end up, Melisma. And the offer doesn't have a time limit so if you ever end up on Salem, feel free to stop by. I hope you find what you're looking for. And I hope the light finds you more on your travels. It looks good on you." Offering a small friendly smile, he then turned away as well and started walking toward the shore to head back to Salem. It was time to check on his mares.
