The muffled sounds of the falls lulled Zimri into an oddly calm trance. It soothed her mind and let her drift into the states of dreams and fantasies. Down the river and under the ice she flowed into something she knew would never be real. Her life had never come to a place of true peace and contentment. Even now, when she was as happy as she felt she could be her mind tried to break her from it.
Dark blue ears shifted at the sound of something coming through the brush. Her body instinctively tensed to flee and the mare had to breathe deep to keep her calm. The trance she had been in helped to sooth her nerves. As the stallion approached, she tilted her elegant head at him, watching him warily. He was large, but appeared placid. She was taken aback by his obvious attempt to seem smaller than himself, trying to convince her that he was not a threat. Her lean body shifted uncomfortably from hoof to hoof. From her time on the islands she was not used to others approaching her without some sort of demon on their breath. Unconsciously, her mind and her nose reached toward him, curious by his behavior.
