Was it really that strange for her not to know her mother's name? Annette let's her expression fall into a frown, deeply considering his words. She was indeed a little heartbroken to never know her mother's given name. Did it truly matter though? Her mother was her mother and that was that. The thought seemed to brighten Annette's mood instantly, allowing a smile to slip onto her lips once again like it had never left.
"It's only ever been us, so i do not feel as sad as what you would think not knowing her name, it's okay," she happily chimes in her soft voice. Annette could tell the stallion was trying to recall seeing someone like her mother, which she found to be a very kind gesture, even more so when he goes on to introduce himself and offer to walk her around the meadow.
"Vercingetorix," she tested his name on her tongue for a moment; it was an unusual mouthful but somehow it suited this kind gentle stallion. "Call me Annette. I was named by someone other than my mother whom could not find the words to give me one. I was told it meant gracious and merciful, does your name have any meaning?", Annette goes on, minding the slow paced walk to match his own steps even though she waned to run all over shouting for her mother.
Yet as the pair continue their treck through the snow there seems to be a dark pair of eyes watching them closely. The stranger does not dare step out from her hiding spot, her gaze locked onto the red dun walking so casually at the side of her daughter she has tears rolling down her cheeks before she can stop them. |
