“Tinuvel,” Magdalena answered plainly. Frost edged her words, as they oft did towards Nicholas.

He made her weary.

But, he'd asked.

For the first time, he'd asked of Lyov and where he could be found. His dark eyes sought the bright tourmaline of hers for more, but found nothing but quiet disdain.

Had he the mind for it, he would have pouted. But as he had come to understand, Magdalena wouldn't have given him anything beyond that even if he'd begged for more.

Tinuvel.

Though the islands were devoured by rime and snow, Nicholas understood he'd found himself where Lyov once stood. He'd no way of knowing if this territory was once his home, place of birth, or where he could have taken the last breath. But, the sparse landscape gripped by winter was telling. Nicholas had found it.

Tinuvel.

He anchored himself on the shore, in spite of a yearning to venture further into the territory. The scent of many hung in the ice fog churning across the Inlet; and that alone, informed him it was a place claimed and inhabited. A part of him, a strange nostalgia he'd never known before, wondered if he'd kin there. A part of him pondered, if this would be a serendipitous venture. He was cautious in his approach to the Island, and he stood a steel-gray ghost where the tide met snow. He had himself a home of his own, and he could not threaten that peace he'd made by intruding.

Instead, Nicholas took a quiet joy in taking in the Island from where he stood, losing himself in the subtle gyre of fog and wind a head of him.

Through the haunting breath of wind, he heard an approach. His body steeled itself to the spot, with his stripped limbs readied to take action. His ears cupped towards the figure approaching through the din of that wintry eve, curious as to had found him.
