The more she stood, listened and watched him the more she felt like she was talking to a rock wall. Maybe a rock wall would actually listen to her though, and maybe actually give the water a chance of making their life better by taking them, albiet very slowly, piece by piece into the ocean for a grand old adventure. A rock wall would actually listen to her words and not twist everything she said.

Leyra’s ears went back a fraction.

“That’s not a breeding that was a force breeding. And I don’t believe you,” her words are now clipped. She’d seen and heard to the contrary. She’d seen, heard he had gone back after Rougaru, told by Monster in the Meadow. Why not leave well enough alone? Let your family decide of their own choice, and here’s an idea - don’t force women into doing anything they don’t want to,” she snaps at him.

“If you can’t let it go, let it go, then I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be around a man whose so hung up on his past, he can’t see the road in front of him,” she scoffs, and turns away, looking to the shoreline and preparing for a run to burn off her frustrated energy.

Now, it felt like a chore to her.

There was no future for her here, when everything was stuck in the past.
