i do what i want

She seemed so sad when she spoke of her family, he could only imagine how sad the reality really was. Did she just have bad parents who weren't good at showing their love for her? Did she have a bad uncle who abused his family or a lot of death that followed around her family? A lot of bad luck maybe? He couldn't even begin to guess but judging by the shadows in her eyes when she spoke of it, he didn't think he wanted to know. Maybe it was best if she left all that behind and tried to start anew. Sure, the memories would live on in her mind but they didn't have to control her future. She could control that all on her own. The idea excited him and gave him hope. She told him he was sweet and he gave a smirk and tilting his head, trying to look bashful. "Aw, shucks, thank you." The giggle that left her lips was a light sound like air in the spring time. It fit her just right.

She asked what girl isn't a fan of gold and he chuckled as he tossed his head and tried to look vain. "Not any smart ones, that's for sure." He gave a roguish wink. As she reached for his cheek, he found himself holding his breath as if the touch would mean something big. Yet at the last moment she drew back and he was held back from her touch. He hesitated before letting out his breath, his gaze finding hers and he was both surprised and happy to see a new glow in them, a new playful side. She said there was no one left. She named a brother, Anawar, and said she couldn't go back to Tinuvel with him. Kamekaze tilted his head, waiting for the rest. Her next words were morbid, saying they only went there to die. His bow lifted in question but again, he figured he probably didn't want to know.

She asked then how someone can live somewhere so cold and miserble. Kamekaze chuckled and shrugged. "I couldn't answer you there. I like the warmth myself. That's why I made my home on the island of Salem, where the sun never quits shining and snow is NEVER welcome." He emphasized the last part with a shiver for effect. Then with a smirk, he turned back to her. "You could always try it on for size, you know. My herd is in the Badlands, but don't let the name fool you. It's a pretty cool place, if I do say so myself. There's this good looking paint stallion that you'll probably take a liking to, if blue eyes is your thing." His eyes practically twinkled with mischief as he teased, but there was hope lying there. Would she take him up on the offer? Then she wouldn't have to worry about that crappy place she didn't want to go to or a family that didn't know how to be happy. He could keep her happy. Or at least he hoped to.
