DARKNESS HAS COME

MAY IT BE AN EVENING STAR SHINES DOWN UPON YOU.
MAY IT BE WHEN DARKNESS FALLS YOUR HEART WILL BE TRUE.
YOU WALK A LONELY ROAD.
OH, HOW YOU ARE FROM HOME.
BELIEVE AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR WAY.
PROMISE LIVES WITHIN YOU NOW.

The months have gone by quickly, but she felt it was enough time for her relationship with Mikhail to grow. She had never been in a situation quite like this before. Last autumn had been a random mating with a stallion she thought attractive and could bring a healthy child to finally end her child bearing years. Now here she was in love with that very stallion. She had even followed him acrossed the sea to the Ridge where she now lived out her last pregnancy.

SO loved being a mother, but she was much too old to continue on. The foal she carried now was her last and that foal was on its way to being born. The gold cream slowly carried herself around the hot terrian as she searched for a secluded place to birth. It was hard to found privacy on the mountain, but thankfully the herd of Kasan was pretty thin so she didn't worry so much about being bothered.

She finally chose a place behind a large rock, near the mountain's edge, which casted a beautiful veiw of the sea below. She took in a deep breath of salty air before going to work. Hours upon hours passed, but finally her son was born. The birth had been a terrible last experience, but seeing the bright eyes of her new colt gave everything a new meaning. The pain she felt for her daughter Sanibel lessened, if only for a moment, and she gently nudged and cleaned off her son.

The colt made small squeals at his mother's touch in which SO responded with a soothing hum and a smile. The colt preceded to stand on his long, wobbly, limbs while SO guided him with a firm press of her muzzle to his barrel. Once he was standing uprighr by himself, she let go and turned her sights to the beautiful veiw before them. This was one of the prettiest sights she has seen giving birth and it set a great scene for her last special moments in motherhood.

"Roheryn." She breaths his name, but doesn't take her eyes off the sea. The sun was getting low in the sky by now and though she worried her colt was too close to the cliff's edge, she found herself unable to stand so she stayed. Even though she knew there was trouble she was relaxed and encouraged her son to lay down next to her. The light golden Roheryn did so and SO rested her head gently against him. There they rested with the smell of blood still trailing from the wounds of the new mother.
