the dappled grey mare before him is lively and vivacious and her infectiously happy energy is a balm to his nervousness… the longer they interact the more he finds himself able to relax in her presence, finally cocking a hind leg to rest the toe of his hoof on the earth. as the muscles of his body begin to follow suit, some of the steely tension that keeps him rigid is lost. leyra’s initial intrigue over his unique facial profile is forgotten as they banter and he almost begins to feel normal. lukasz takes turns glancing up to catch her smiles and dropping his eyes back down with embarrassment at her teasing, though his smile is apparent all the while. a soft chuckle leaves his lips and he replies, ”you have entirely too much confidence in me, dearest leyra.” he wasn’t sure he could handle much trouble at all, in earnest, but it surely wouldn’t keep him from trying! the statuesque dark stallion almost flinches at her next question. as it was he visibly stiffens, raising his head a little as if she had poked an open wound. it was, i suppose, still open… though so much time had passed. it would likely never heal. how could it? lukasz is quick to try and regain his composure, trying to soften his body once more and lower his large head. while he sees no need to mask the truth or lie he also does not want to drag her down with his morbid history. so, he explains a bit, leaving any detail of the vlast, his homeland, well out of things. ”i…i’m not from here. i have travelled quite a few places and heard of these isles from many… it seemed like a good place to stop.. a good place to settle down, i mean.”
