SHE TOOK ME TO THE SKY.

Vesna dismissed his apology with little more than a shrug, though one side of her lip pulled up in a half-grin. It was what it was, after all. If it hadn't been him to take her out of her memory, it would have been a flurry of snow or somebody else.

Just as she had been lost in a thought, so too had Ailill. Vesna had looked up at the sky, but she had just as quickly looked back to him. All the while, he seemed to be stuck considering the weather; Vesna couldn't help but wonder if she underestimated the place she had come to. Was the weather truly so terrifying? She had seen snow before, and the storms that came with it, but never had her mother looked all that concerned. She grinned to herself and slowly shook her head. Well, he probably had more to worry about than her as it were. Likely, he had a home of some kind, and maybe even a family. Vesna had none of that - just herself, and one could only worry about themself so much.

He looked skeptical, and she couldn't help but grin sheepishly. Even Vesna could recognize the rather...pathetic nature of hiding beneath a bald tree, but that had been all she had known for the last several days. Her embarassment quickly turned to her own skepticism when he mentioned a tropical island, and swimming at that. Her brows furrowed and she snorted beneath her breath, almost as if offended by the notion alone. Was he trying to lure her to a watery grave? Thankfully, he seemed to realize that the idea wasn't exactly an enticing - or likely - one.

"If I had wanted a warmer welcome, I should have chosen a more ideal season to come here," she said with a shrug and a flick of her tail. "The falls might be best, I think." Perhaps his kin were born to swim through icy water, but she was not.

Had he been hoping to lead the way, then Vesna had some news for him. She knew the way back well enough, and she did not intend to let him try to trick her down some other path. Instead, she pivoted and quickly orientated herself before she motioned to him with a flick of her head. "You didn't burn all your energy frolicking about, did you?" She raised a brow, but did not wait for a response. Instead, she took off at a gentle trot, expecting him to take to her side. Or, perhaps she hoped he might. Some part of her longed for company and conversation, even if she was still attempting to process the islands and her situation. If she lead the way, and if she called the shots, then what did she have to worry about? The thought made her lips draw back in a tight line for a moment, but she shook her head and tried to clear her mind. Focus, she thought, on the path to the falls.

It was a pleasant way back, at least. Even with a looming storm, the ground shimmered with fresh snow and the dull light cast deep shadows. She breathed in deep, trying to take in all that she could about the island as she did. Ailill was mixed in with her breath too, and she tried to make sense of his scent too. She eyed him as she moved, wondering if some hitch in his step might give him away. He smelt faintly of the ocean, but beyond that, she couldn't tell. Was that part of the mystery of living on the islands? Once you entered the ocean, your past was harder to discern. What had lured him to wherever it was that she was, or what had chased him away from where he had been? Vesna could not help but sigh between breaths, half-cursing herslf for being too curious.

vesna.
