He was not a man blighted with conflict. He had returned to his home, and though it had not been the glorious homecoming he had hoped for, Persephone had been welcoming enough, and she had thrust her trust into his hands and allowed him to do with it what he willed.

Perhaps that had been enough. His duties lay in patrolling the lands, following the winding trails up and down, weaving through the trees and lending his eyes to every corner. While the others were tasked with going about their business, mothering their children and tending to whatever lovers they had, he was alone and perhaps he liked it that way.

Though he did much prefer the company of the silver haired woman.

“I don’t know what to do, but lend a hand to anyone that needs it.” There was much more to earning the trust of others, and in Aponi he could see an ally and a friend, even if they were not fit to be lovers. There was comfort to be had in finding someone that could trust him, and someone that would not needlessly hate him, or throw words of hate at him. “I’ve avoided most of the people- they are distrusting of new faces. The one woman I did meet treated me as a threat.” Sorrowfully, he laments the hostility that he had seen in one strange woman.

He had hardly gotten her name before she had thrown angry words at him and all but dismissed him.

“I am glad you would like to stay. I could use a friendly face every now and again.” He offers her a little smile, leaning in to brush his greying lips against her cheek in a small show of affection and gratitude. At least here, hugging to the trees and hiding away from the cruel winds of the water, he could find a little comfort and peace in the company of the flaxen haired mare.
