On The Hills...

EMBER

Never one to be taken aback by another’s emotions, Ember’s smile only grew when the smaller mare’s words lashed out at her. It was clear the anger was not directed at her, but more either inward, or into the air, or at fate itself. The words and sarcasm drifted over the bay’s body as painlessly as the breeze. She left it at that, and quirked her attention more fully to her as Kore shook her head and spoke again, this time in a far different tone of voice. These were the words and the tone Ember paid attention to, these were the ones the other mare gave credit to.

It is not wrong to feel your emotions and let them capture you. She insisted, knowing how all-consuming feeling could be. A creature prone to dancing on the edge of logic and feeling, she knew what it was like to feel something so strongly in your body it could not be ignored. The pull in her chest was what had brought her here and the heat of her soul is what tied her to others. Her eyes glanced back at the water and growing sunlight before resting again on her companion. It was when someone forced themselves to control their feelings and smother the flames in blankets of guilt that anger lashed out and consumed someone to the point of destruction.

Kore. She reflected back, with a playful dancing on her features. The dark mare asked a simple and straight forward question, to which the gypsy could not help but chuckle. >Sadly, I do not know where we are. Her head tossed in the direction of the falls. Only it is where water meets air, with earth delights in the union, as such with most waterfalls. However, what this place is… Her heavy steps slowed to a stop. Looking around, she studied the trees that surrounded them and scented the air. The rush of water behind them and the press of equine energy that coursed through these lands was intoxicating to her. Still…This is an island of spirits and souls. Many Cross here, not knowing where they are going. There is belonging here, but it is home for a select few. Shifting again to face Kore, her expression altered. This is not my home, though I am welcome here. Nor is it your home, though you may find some sense of peace. Her face turned into the breeze, softly scenting the air thick with the salty tang of the ocean. But I believe we are both close. Just not… right. Not… complete. She seemed to muse this over for a moment, frustration flickering in her dark eyes. With a snort she shook it off. We could look together! Then at least you won’t be the only one acting in haste! Ember grinned, the playful gleam filling her again as her voice danced at teased around the Arabian mare.
