fires burned at midnight.

Ember waited while her friend also explored the grounds around them. A single hoof cocked to the side, deep brown eyes watching her pale counterpart. She knew the other woman could feel and see the same things she did, but in different ways. Over their year of traveling together she had come to rely on Glenna’s senses as well as her own, as another aspect of everything around her. There was very little she would not completely entrust to Glenna’s judgement. When she spoke, Ember pondered for a moment, her attention wandering back to the falls and the trees around them. Her heart sped as the water continued to pound on the rocks below them. She had a sharp intake of breath when something else hit her ears.

Her head snapped around just in time to see the stallion join their group. Eyes widened in excitement. He was the moon on the earth. Dark and light pelt littered with stars and snowflakes. His guiding light shined from him as indeed the night’s moon gifted them its own light. Ember’s face sparked and she nudged her friend. Him. she breathed without question. He spoke to them and Ember’s attention was captured by his words. Our eyes are caught to what they feel we need to notice. Though rarely, when we are looking at what is flashy, do we find what we really need to see. She looked up at such singing birds, tweeting and twittering about. They looked back down at her, paying her more mind than she would have it. Just to the side, she glanced a nest and grinned. It was a time of growth and new life and a new cycle. Finally, everything was starting to come together.

Shaking out her body, Ember closed closed any gap between them with a dance to her hooves. Surely we are kin. she confirmed with a grin and offering her muzzle in an excited greeting. If not by blood then by calling, for it seems like the falls summoned us all. She looked back at Glenna, suddenly concerned. Ears flicked uncertainly in her thick locks. But… I fear we are not complete yet. Three was not a balance; it was still a beginning, full of promise so long as they moved forward.
