Mother Goose is just a fairy-tale

Gently; his gaze brushes over his home; his world. He finds comfort here. Liland was gone and he knew not where. It was strange and all so confusing. The deal that they'd made with one another had been talked about. It had been thought upon and decided. Liland had stepped back to become Goose's second in command. Goose had taken the title of the Bay's Keeper. It's leader if you wanted the most technical term for what you could call the title he held. It is not for power though. He is no aggressive or overly monstrous. No, this is no vicious creature that could stand before you now. The Gypsy Vanner stallion was compassionate and caring. He wanted a herd to be his family. They needn't fear him as they could fear some other stallions in this world and on these islands. That is not Goose though.

He is quickly pulled from his confusing thoughts to a cry. Squeals. They sounded labored and full of agony. Quickly; his legs pull him from his standing position and into a trot. His gait is quickened to a canter as he heads in the direction of the continuous squeals. It is not before long that his eyes fall upon the mare of grullo stain. He watches her a couple of moments and then pieces it all together as a child took his first steps and began to nurse.

His pace slows to a walk and then; a pause as he comes closer to them. A respectable distance from the new mother and her son. Congratulations are in order it would seem. His voice is deep but kind. I am Goose. He pauses as he takes in their scents from where he stood. She had that familiar scent of the stallion whom had apparently left the islands. It wasn't as though he had walked off into the night. No. It is more as though his scent quickly faded as it had been washed away by the sea. Goose does not know this but he knows that Liland was no longer here and his scent was far from strong. Faded and weak. So strange really and so very confusing.

You smell of him. He pauses curiously and tilts his nose ever so slightly with the thoughts going through his head now. What can I know you by miss? And what of your wee one? No anger; no cruel words. There is a compassionate creature standing a little distance from them. Curious and here for the well being of those that may be left after the stallion's vanishing on them all. Goose was here though and ready to begin his life as the Bay's leader. He would still need to go meet the king of the island. Right now though; the mother and her child were top priority as they were in his home. It was their home too though he suspected and he would never force another to leave. Neither would he force one to stay should they wish to leave. Sometimes force claims were necessary but he did not do such as a monster. Never that. There is no claim here though. She had been here before he'd even arrived on the mainland and then, on the islands. This was her home as much as it is now his own.
