Pilar’s head shot up from the pool quickly as a new voice filled the cool, damp air. She turned her back to the raging falls in the distance and trotted over to the newcomer, eliminating the need to shout over the dull roar of the water behind them; her strangely curved ears pricked forward with interest.
“Oh yes, I noticed. Good advice,” Pilar commended with a short nod and a kind smile. She might have been a little glum, but the seal brown Marwari did not have a death wish.
Despite all that she’d been through, she did her best to remain positive and sometimes that meant being a little too trusting of strangers. Perhaps if this beautifully painted mare had shown any hostility, she might not have felt so comfortable approaching her so readily, but that was not the case. She had an air of trustworthiness as evident to Pilar as the earth wet beneath their feet.
“Hi there, I’m Pilar,” she offered, hopeful that she might make a new friend today. “What brings you here?” She asked, her voice teeming with curiosity.
