FAMILY IS ALL THERE IS

The silence was charged as the pair stared each other down, oblivious to the world around them as their voices no doubt carried across the plains around them. Anyone within earshot would have a front row seat to their little familial spat, not that either of them seemed to care at the moment though Bondurant would no doubt feel some shame later. Cricket wasn’t the sort to dwell on anything she said after it left her lips no matter the situation. The small, quiet voice that breaks that silence however may well have been a shot going off. Two large heads swing her direction simultaneously, eyes of sapphire and emerald focus on the petite mare who had stepped into their conversation. The champagne girl huffs silently earning her a reprimanding nudge from her father. “Sorry for disturbing your evening ma’am.” He mutters an apology, even though neither of them had forced her to join in the fray they had been involved in.

Cricket blinks to keep her eyes from rolling, ever the gentleman her father despite what she knew of his past. More from the gaps in his stories than anything he had actually told her but someone doesn’t get so deep into the pit of self-loathing that he had created around himself without the unsavory. Reigning in her impetuous nature the girl paints a smile on her face and bobs her painted head lightly. “Yeah, apologies.” Her sire cuts his gemlike eyes her direction but she ignores the pointed look and after a moment his attention reverts back to the new woman. “Did you need help with something?” His deep voice questioned softly with mottled ears pointed her direction, he could sense there was something troubling her and he wasn’t sure why else she might feel compelled to stray into the fray the father and daughter had been involved in. Cricket however wasn’t sure it was best to get involved in some else’s problems, but ever the bleeding heart her father. Her tail flicked quietly against her hocks instead as she shifted her weight, impatient to be diverted from berating her father when she finally seemed to be making headway, but perhaps this was him moving on. If that was the case then she could be patient and let him get it out of his system. There was plenty of time now for her to continue to chastise him.
