He had come to the Peak without a fuss, though his heart was in his throat the whole time. He dared to look back before they dove into the water around the Shore, his brown gaze falling on the blue roan mare he'd come to adore in more ways than she could ever imagine. He didn't miss the flicker of almost disappointment in Xiomara's gaze when he appeared before the dark mare of the Peak and ducked his head in submission. It was almost like she wanted him to fight against the decision. But what good would that do? He didn't want to make trouble for Xiomara and her herd. That seemed selfish. He would serve out his time and perhaps they would find each other once again. They'd already done it, what? Three times now? Each time, the warrior mare had found him and brought him back to her. He had no doubts she could do it again.
But will she want to? You're showing your true colors, after all. Never putting up a fight, ever the obediant servant. Maybe she's ready for a real stallion, too. The words stung as the voice spoke them in his head. He'd already been pushed aside by his first love, Solaris. She left him for a Lagoon stallion only to be killed by the same male. It still left Angel baffled. He was, of course, a little relieved to find out from Nagini that Raider had met his fate as well at the teeth of a mare he'd taken as a trinket for the Lagoon. It seemed just to the buckskin stallion that Raider had followed Solaris into the ground. And Nagini, the mystery filly that could be Angel's own daughter or Raider's, had gone with another mare who had taken her in. They left the islands, from what Angel gathered. He hated that he couldn't be there for the young filly like he was Galexia in her younger years, but at least he knew she was safe and with someone who loved her.
Meanwhile, Galexia was left in the Shore where she was safe with Xiomara. He knew the roan mare would tell her what happened to her father if she asked. Meanwhile, he would try to get back to them as soon as he could. He swam the short distance from the Shore to the mainland then traveled up the coast until they hit the Peak. He kept stealing glances at the dark mare who challenged for him, curious of why she chose him and what she might want from him. It could just be a power play on Xiomara, teaching her a lesson for siding with the Lagoon in the war. He useless as anything other than a pawn; he knew that much. The black mare probably had no use for him in the Peak. Even so, his own thoughts kept flitting back to the injured lead mare he left behind. His emotions were still so jumbled when it came to her and what she was growing to mean to him.
AS they reached the borders of the Peak, he paused to take it all in. The mountains were truly beautiful, and at least it was warm for now with the spring sun shining overhead. Shaking out his coat, he ventured deeper into the herd territory, wondering if the black mare would continue to escort him or if she was going to essentially turn him loose now that he was here.
