Battle of Okinawa

Although I knew that the U.S. suffered heavy losses in the Battle of Okinawa, I didn't realize just how heavy those losses were until watching a TV documentary today about the Battle of Okinawa.
Checking a bit further, I found that the U.S. suffered nearly three times more fatalities in that battle than in any other battle in U.S. history.
