The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

He pricked his ears, listening attentively as the two mares conversed. It was nice for them to have each other in this new world they both seemed to have discovered. He watched curiously as the mares looked around themselves, getting acquainted with this land he had brought them to. He knew the Desert didn't look like much, but he felt its magic on a daily basis and wanted to share that magic with others; if only, they would allow him to show it off. Watching the dark gray mare, Cain could see the flicker of hunger in her eyes and dubbed her an explorer. She would surely know all the nooks and crannies in the Desert soon enough and he couldn't wait for her to see it all and hopefully want to stay even longer to see more of it.

He always hated himself more when he told others his story and the story of his herd. Looking back on it now, he was ashamed of how his herd started, but he only wanted to make it better now and hoped that would count for something. He could see the turmoil in Cerosi's eyes as she regarded him but he knew only she could make the decision on whether to trust him or not, whether to forgive him for that past. He watched her patiently, letting her make up her own mind. Finally the mare said she was ready to leave and he dipped his head in acknowledgment, turning his head to make sure Nasa was ready to move on as well. The black arabian mare was more vocal about her opinion of his story, saying it sounded like he learned a thing or two and he nodded in agreement.

She said she was bred in the desert and his own ears flicked back and forth in puzzlement. Did she mean this desert? But then she answered his question by bringing up a word he knew well enough about himself. Man. His eyes widened in familiarity of the term and his nostrils flared as his own memories of the two legged creatures threatened to surface. He tensed up, his very skin shivering at the thought. He dipped his head once more. "We share that in common, then. I was captured as a yearling and separated from my herd and family. I spent four years with humans who beat and tortured me. Most of the scars on my body are from their weapons and instruments." He could see that she didn't want to talk more about her past and he was okay with that.

He just wanted her to know that if she ever did want to talk about it, he would understand. Then Nasa nodded that she was ready to move more into the Desert and Cain dipped his head and turned to lead them further inland. He showed them more places to get food, water, and shelter, pointing out the areas most of his herd used to bed down. He also pointed out the entrance to the underground cave where they could find cooler air and sanctuary from the hot sun. Once he made a lap, he turned back to them. "Any questions? Or would you like to explore more on your own?"
