When the small mare at first turned on her with bared teeth, Medusa quickly halted in her tracks and gave a soft snort, staring down the red female with curiousity. Did she not want company or something? But the mare seemed to calm down as quickly as she had riled up, seeming to study Medusa for a moment before gave her name as Valka. At least, that's what the dun paint assumed her name was. At her question, the chestnut mare seemed to take her time before finally relenting with a soft exhale of breath. Medusa pricked her ears attentively, interested in the answer, whatever it may be. Valka told her she was four years old and that her herd was all small but had big hearts and were strong. The filly was thoughtful for a moment, her eyes having widened at first to the idea this mare was three years older than herself but she quickly recomposed herself. Finally she gave a smirk and tipped her head in agreement. "You are built pretty sturdy. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to grow so tall." She said with a small scowl before glancing down at her own lean legs. Maybe if she was shorter, she would be more durable-looking like Valka. She continued to watch the smaller mare with open curiosity, noting the tension in the air. Did Valka not like her? Was it because she was taller? Then the mare asked if she was Rougaru's and Medusa snorted. "Ew, he's my dad. I'm not 'his.'" She didn't consider herself to belong to anyone just yet. The next thing Valka said had her attention though. Ironclad? Her ears pricked and her head snapped up a little in surprise. Valka knew him? How funny the world was. The yearling tilted her head in puzzlement at the last word, Valka used. Her nose wrinkled as she tried to sound it out herself. "Mudak? What's that mean? I'm supposed to be betrothed to Ironclad soon. What's he like?" She might as well find out, right? Besides, based on the flared nostrils and the look in Valka's eyes, she wasn't sure the mare liked her future mate at all and she needed to know why.
