What a to-do! Grackles have decimated our chickadees, nuthatches, cardinals, and other flying jewels. They are so predatory.

So I destroyed 2 grackles' nests after the newly fledged ones left. I throw tennis balls at those that try to hang around - it helps I think.

I've stocked our feeders and our neighbour's with safflower only. Result: The gang of about 30 grackles have gone.

So quiet here now with only the orioles; a robin with just one juvenile; the mourning doves; and a pair of house finches.

Maybe some of our friends will come home.
